At INSA, the mission is simple but powerful: make every day better. The company, founded by Pete and Pat, is driven by the belief that premium cannabis products can enhance life’s daily experiences in meaningful ways. From cultivation to retail, INSA ensures customers get exactly what they need from cannabis to help them feel, live, and do better. Behind the scenes, one of the key figures bringing this mission to life is Andre Mauro, the director of construction and facility, whose leadership and engineering expertise are helping the company expand its footprint while staying true to its high standards of quality and innovation.

Growing up in Brazil, Andre developed an early fascination with how things work and how they can be improved. He pursued a degree in automation engineering from Paulista University and went on to work for the largest food and beverage manufacturing organization in the world. Over time, he advanced from a planning engineer to the head of engineering, mastering the principles of process optimization, automation, and maintenance along the way.
By 2008, Andre and his family moved to the United States in search of new opportunities, a transition that came with challenges but also immense potential. “Coming from Brazil, I saw this country as the land of opportunity,” he said. “If you work hard and stay open to learning, you can accomplish anything.”
For much of his career, Andre operated in the engineering and maintenance realm. But as he looked to grow further, he identified a personal gap: construction. “I realized that to be a more well-rounded professional, I needed to understand construction from the ground up,” he said. “That meant learning everything from contracts to regulations to the details of project delivery.” The move to INSA presented the perfect chance to take on that challenge.
When he joined the company, he brought with him a deep understanding of process efficiency and a passion for continuous improvement. Today, Andre oversees new construction, facility management, and capital expenditure projects across five states: Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Connecticut, and Florida. His journey from engineering to construction represents both personal growth and professional evolution—a blend of curiosity, humility, and determination that defines his leadership style.
Building new and better facilities
One of Andre’s earliest and most impactful achievements at INSA was leading the development of a new cultivation facility in Florida. Built to meet GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards and FDA readiness, the facility represents a new benchmark in cannabis production. From the start, Andre and his team focused on three core goals: process improvement, automation, and energy efficiency.

“This facility is fully automated, designed to optimize performance and reduce manual work without affecting quality,” he said. “It’s a world-class space that impresses anyone who sees it.”
The automation systems in place allow INSA to maintain consistent quality while achieving substantial cost and energy savings. Through robotics and smart systems integration, the Florida facility reduced energy consumption by approximately 20 percent. The improvements not only support INSA’s sustainability goals but also enhance its ability to meet growing consumer demand efficiently.
Andre’s influence also extended to the renovation of existing facilities in Massachusetts and the construction of new ones in Pennsylvania. His engineering mindset guided each project: streamline processes, minimize waste, and design with future scalability in mind. These projects underscore his belief that technology and teamwork, when aligned, can elevate both operations and outcomes.
“The Florida project was one of the first big challenges after I arrived at INSA,” he said. “Now that it’s been running smoothly for more than two years, it’s proof of what the team can achieve when we set clear goals and execute together.”
Leading with clarity and purpose
At the core of Andre’s leadership philosophy is a focus on clarity, accountability, and opportunity. He leads teams across multiple states, ensuring that every member understands not just what needs to be done, but why it matters. His leadership is direct but rooted in respect and personal connection.

“I’m very upfront about expectations,” he said. “That doesn’t mean I’m not approachable, but I believe people do their best work when they know exactly what’s expected of them.”
That straightforward approach has proven instrumental in coordinating complex projects across INSA’s expanding portfolio. Whether constructing large cultivation facilities or opening new retail locations, Andre’s teams understand the importance of quality, safety, and brand integrity.
Since taking over retail construction about a year ago, Andre has helped open 12 new INSA locations. The rapid pace of this expansion reflects not only the company’s growth strategy but also Andre’s ability to translate vision into reality. By systematizing processes, strengthening communication, and maintaining clear performance benchmarks, he has enabled his team to deliver consistent results across varied markets.
Behind every store opening and facility upgrade lies Andre’s passion for building something greater than the physical structure itself. “For me, it’s about showing people what’s possible when they’re given a chance,” he said. “I’ve been fortunate to have people trust me with opportunities, and now I try to do the same for others.”
Growing people, not just projects
While Andre’s technical expertise is formidable, it’s his people-first mindset that sets him apart. He sees team-building as his niche—a skill he has honed throughout his career. At INSA, he is as focused on developing talent as he is on developing buildings. He takes pride in mentoring younger professionals, helping them gain confidence, and ensuring they see the potential in themselves that others might overlook.

“Bringing in good people and giving them room to grow is one of the best parts of my job,” he said. “I want to show that when you’re trusted and supported, you can achieve great things.”
His commitment to recruiting and empowering the right people ties directly to INSA’s broader mission of making every day better. A strong facilities and construction team ensures that every cultivation site, production facility, and retail space reflects the company’s values of quality, consistency, and care.
Andre also sees this philosophy as a reflection of his own journey. From his early days in Brazil to leading multi-state operations in the U.S., his story is one of seizing opportunity, learning continuously, and paying that growth forward. His willingness to step into new territory—embracing construction as a challenge rather than a limitation—has not only broadened his expertise but also positioned INSA for sustained success.
“I’ve always believed in learning by doing,” he said. “Every challenge I’ve faced has made me stronger and more capable of helping others succeed.”
A blueprint for sustainable success
As INSA continues to grow, Andre’s role will remain pivotal in ensuring that the company’s expansion aligns with its founding vision. His focus on increasing quality, improving productivity, and reducing costs without compromising the brand reflects the balance that defines INSA’s approach to business. By leveraging automation, energy efficiency, and strong leadership, he helps the company deliver on its promise to customers while creating an environment where employees can thrive.

The future, he believes, lies in maintaining that equilibrium—combining technical innovation with human potential. Every new store opening or facility upgrade is another step toward that goal, another opportunity to make every day better not just for INSA’s customers, but for its people.
Andre’s story is more than one of professional advancement. It’s a testament to curiosity, courage, and the belief that growth is a shared journey. From the factory floors of Brazil to the cutting-edge cultivation rooms of Florida, he has built a career and a philosophy grounded in possibility. And for INSA, that philosophy continues to shape the spaces where better days begin.
