Harry Yeatman – Gulf Coast Supply & Manufacturing

Built to last & built to lead

As president of Gulf Coast Supply & Manufacturing, Harry Yeatman has led the company through a remarkable evolution—one grounded in operational discipline and powered by vision. Since stepping into the role in 2017, Yeatman has leaned on his four decades of experience in metal building systems to position the Florida-based roofing manufacturer for sustained growth and long-term impact. The company’s transformation over the last two years tells a clear story: this isn’t just a regional player anymore—it’s a forward-thinking industry force.

Founded in 1996, Gulf Coast Supply & Manufacturing has long been known as “The Metal Roof Floridians Trust,” serving the residential market with quality products and unmatched reliability. But under Yeatman’s leadership, the company has expanded far beyond its original scope. With a sharpened focus on commercial and light industrial sectors—including resorts, banks, mixed-use developments, and high-slope architectural projects—Gulf Coast is now a trusted name across the Southeast.

“Metal roofing isn’t just a product—it’s a system that has to perform under pressure,” Yeatman says. “Our customers are depending on us not just for what’s in the box, but for the reliability behind it.”

That reliability is reflected in everything from the company’s comprehensive warranties to its trusted supply chain partners, including top-tier paint and coil manufacturers. By offering Class A-rated roofing systems with certified testing and hurricane-grade durability, Gulf Coast doesn’t just sell products—they sell peace of mind.

Technology meets the rooftop

The most visible shift at Gulf Coast Supply in recent years isn’t just about where it builds—but how it builds. While many manufacturers remain tethered to manual workflows and offline sales models, Yeatman has transformed Gulf Coast into a digitally-enabled, tech-savvy operation.

The company’s barcoding initiative is one example. Spanning a full year of implementation, the new system enables real-time inventory control, product traceability, and risk reduction throughout the manufacturing process. Combined with the Beck Automation system that powers its roll formers, Gulf Coast now delivers unparalleled precision on every order.

Meanwhile, the launch of Gulf Coast’s online store has disrupted the traditionally analog world of roofing supply. What began as an ambitious experiment is now a vital revenue channel—one growing by double digits each quarter and projected to double again in 2025.

Yeatman’s digital roadmap goes beyond e-commerce. The company has rolled out a suite of custom-built microSaaS tools that serve both internal teams and external partners. A standout is the AI-powered “Set Back Finder,” which helps contractors ensure coastal compliance for roofs near saltwater zones. Gulf Coast’s chatbot also empowers contractors and homeowners to get answers to product and installation questions instantly—without waiting on phone calls or emails.

“Tech for tech’s sake doesn’t help anyone,” Yeatman explains. “We’re building tools that make life easier for real roofers.”

Smarter growth, not just bigger growth

In an industry where growth is often equated with size, Yeatman has taken a different approach—prioritizing efficiency, brand reputation, and smart resource allocation over sheer scale. That philosophy was on display at this year’s Florida Roofing & Sheet Metal Expo (FRSA), where Gulf Coast reduced its booth footprint but saw record engagement.

“We’re not trying to win by being the loudest,” Yeatman says. “We’re winning by being the most dependable.”

That dependable brand is also expanding its commercial presence. Already involved in high-profile resort bids and major municipal projects, Gulf Coast is expanding its presence in the commercial construction ecosystem. The company has built out a dedicated team of sales, estimating, and project management professionals who work directly with developers, general contractors, and architects. The result: a new portfolio of high-slope projects that bring metal roofing to the forefront of modern design.

“Our strength lies in availability, service, and reliability,” Yeatman says. “When a contractor needs product on-site, we’re ready. That’s what keeps projects moving and partners happy.”

Even as it grows, Gulf Coast keeps its core mission in focus. From co-branded marketing support to innovations like Jet Crating—an engineered packaging solution that simplifies transport and installation—the company continues to invest in tools that serve contractors on the ground.

Leading with experience—and legacy

Yeatman’s leadership style is shaped by decades of field experience and a no-nonsense, people-first mindset. A graduate of Auburn University with a degree in building science, he spent nearly 32 years at Butler Manufacturing, eventually rising to executive vice president of sales and strategy, before joining Gulf Coast in 2017.

His journey into the metal roofing world began almost by accident. As a young project manager seeking employment, a neighbor introduced him to a construction company that focused on systems construction. That opportunity led him into metal buildings, then to the manufacturing side—and, eventually, into executive leadership.

“I’ve spent most of my life in this industry,” Yeatman reflects. “And what keeps me going is helping customers win and helping our younger team members grow into roles they never imagined for themselves.”

Today, Yeatman oversees a team of roughly 150 employees across departments. While recruiting hasn’t been a major issue, he acknowledges that retention is an ongoing challenge—one he meets with mentorship, clear expectations, and a strong leadership bench. He’s also honest about the most challenging part of his role: managing financial risk in a cyclical business.

“It’s always a balance,” he says. “Do we invest in capital projects now? Do we increase inventory? It’s never black and white. But that’s part of the job.”

What Yeatman enjoys most, however, is watching people grow.

“I’ve become a better mentor over the years,” he admits. “Patience wasn’t always my strength. But now I get just as much satisfaction from watching others learn as I do from winning a new account.”

Outside the office, Yeatman is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting, sailing, cycling, gardening, and time with his growing family—two children, five grandchildren, and a blended household that keeps things lively. Despite decades in the business, his passion hasn’t faded.

“I don’t care about titles or status,” he says. “I care about doing things the right way, building a team that delivers, and making sure we’re ready for whatever storm comes next—literally and figuratively.”
